There are 145,000 stories in the Royal City, and this is some of them. Looking at a week’s worth of media releases from the Guelph Police Service, there’s a lot going on in our little city crime-wise speaking, so let’s run down some of the charges, issues, and requests for information from the Guelph Police Service over the last seven days.

Police Concerned About Missing Teen’s Well Being
Police are asking for help locating Jessica, a 17-year-old female from Guelph who was reported missing on April 26 and there’s some concern about her well being. Jessica is approximately 5’ 3” and 100lbs with brown hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a black short sleeved hoodie and black leggings. She has been observed at various places around Guelph including near the intersections of Woolwich and Mac Avenue, and London and Edinburgh.

Assault
Guelph Police are asking for assistance in finding the suspect in a sexual assault. On May 15, between 11:30 am and noon, a teenage female was sitting on a bench at Goldie Mill Park on Cardigan Street. A male not known to her touched her without her consent and made inappropriate sexual comments. The victim was not physically injured.
The male is described as white, slightly tanned, approximately late 30s to early 40s, average weight and height with unshaven stubble, dark brown messy hair over the ears and parted in the middle and dark eyes. He was last seen wearing a navy blue t-shirt, beige or khaki shorts and old beige sandals and had a large beige or khaki backpack. At the time of the incident, he was eating a red/white/blue Popsicle. See the composite sketch on the left.

A 17-year-old Guelph male was arrested for assault on Wednesday in connection to an incident last October when a 63-year-old male was sleeping in his motorized scooter outside a downtown parkade was repeatedly punched and kicked by three males, sustaining minor injuries. The two other males were arrested shortly after the assault last fall.
A 22-year-old Georgetown man was charged with assault after an incident downtown last Saturday morning. Just after 3 am, a passerby saw a heated argument between two men and tried to deescalate the tensions, but one of the men started yelling homophobic slurs, before slapping the victim across the cheek. The passerby was a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community so it’s being considered a hate-motivated assault.
Break-Ins
Police are investigating an attempted break-in at a residence near Grange and Watson after they were called to the scene on Wednesday afternoon. A hole was cut in the chain link fence and the garden shed had been entered, but attempts to get into the main house via a rear sliding glass door and the front door failed. Police are investigating after getting called to a business at Victoria and Arkell where someone smashed a window to get in and then smashed a hole in the wall with a sledgehammer to attempt access to a neighbouring business. Nothing was reported stolen, but police are looking for a white male wearing a green jacket, black pants and white gloves. A 34-year-old Guelph male is charged with two counts of break and enter and four counts of breaching probation order for two break-ins earlier this month, including one at a place of worship.
A 34-year-old Guelph male is charged with break and enter, mischief over $5,000, possessing stolen property under $5,000 and breaching probation after a break-in at a downtown business on Monday. At 7 am, a witness saw a man smash the front door of a Wyndham Street store, enter, and leave with electronics including a laptop, iPad and several cellphones.
Drugs
A 33-year-old Guelph woman was charged with Possession Of A Controlled Substance – Schedule I, Breach Judicial Release Order, and Breach Probation after an employee at a store near Eramosa and Stevenson reported that the woman had just been stopped from shoplifting in the store. Police found nearly 14 grams of crystal meth on her.
A 51-year-old Guelph woman was charged with Possession For The Purpose Of Trafficking and Drive While Under Suspension after police were called about a woman sleeping in the driver’s seat of a parked carmin a driveway near Speedvale and Woolwich Wednesday morning. Upon investigation, police found that the woman’s licence was suspended, and in her car police found over 40 grams of crystal meth, $305 of Canadian currency, and drug paraphernalia.
A 39-year-old Guelph man was charged with possessing a controlled substance and three counts of possessing a prohibited weapon after police noticed a possible impaired driver in a Speedvale East parking lot on Sunday morning. The man was found passed out behind the wheel and a search revealed three knives and small amount of suspected crystal meth.

Impaired Driving
A 59-year-old Guelph woman was charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration after police were called about a possible impaired driver in the area of Laird and Clair on Thursday evening.
Theft
Over $700 in Pokemon cards were stolen from a Stone Road business last Friday. There are two suspects. The male is described as white, approximately 30, 5’9”, slim build and wearing a red, grey and black jacket, light blue button-up shirt, jeans, a baseball cap and black-rimmed glasses. The female was white, approximately 20, 5’6”, slim build with brown hair and wearing a white tank top, white sweater, green trackpants and red running shoes. A 32-year-old Guelph man was charged with possessing stolen property under $5,000, unauthorized use of a credit card, breach of probation and failing to comply with an undertaking after a man tracked his stolen Apple Airpods and the person who stole them at Stone Road Mall.
Traffic
An 18-year-old Scarborough man was charged with impaired driving, dangerous driving, possessing stolen property over $5,000, failing to stop at a collision and two counts of failing to comply with release orders after a collision last Friday afternoon on Downey Road. The driver of a Maserati SUV was impaired by a drug and the vehicle itself had been reported stolen from Toronto. The driver was also bound by court orders placing him under house arrest and banning him from driving.
A 68-year-old Guelph man was charged with Operate While Prohibited and his vehicle was impounded for 45 days after police saw him leave a store at Speedvale and Stevenson and get into the driver’s seat while carrying alcohol. The man was prohibited from driving based off a previous criminal code impaired driving conviction.
A 40-year-old Guelph man was charged with Speeding, Stunt Driving, and Fail To Surrender Driver’s Licence after being caught by police doing 107 kilometres an hour in a 60 zone near Clair and Gordon on Wednesday afternoon.
A 48-year-old Guelph woman was charged with impaired operation, refusing to comply with a breath demand, speeding and stunt driving after police stopped a car going 107 kilometres per hour in a 50 zone at Gordon and Clairfields last Saturday morning. She had slurred speech, was unsteady on her feet and refused to provide a breath sample.
Other Notes
Police are investigating hate-motivated graffiti in a park on on Poppy Drive East. A passerby saw several racial epithets written in chalk on the ground, early last Saturday morning at 12:10 am and police were called. A box of chalk left at the scene was seized. A 53-year-old Guelph man turned himself in to police on Tuesday and was charged with failing to comply with a release order and breaching probation. After being released on bail in May 2021 on charges including assault with a weapon and obstructing justice, the man had sent an email to police advising them that he would not be attending court as he was leaving the country.
A 44-year-old Guelph woman was charged with arson for setting two garbage bins on fire on Wilson Street earlier this month.
