City Council Preview – What’s on the Agenda for the March 28 Meetings?

The agenda for this month’s regular meeting of council is a short one. The horseshoe will review the sometimes controversial decisions of Committee of the Whole, before finding some volunteer councillors to form a special and rare committee.

NOTE #1: Delegates will be able to appear at this meeting via telephone or video, but you do have to register with the clerks office before 10 am on March 25. You can also submit written delegations and correspondences for agenda items.

NOTE #2: The meeting will be closed to the public, though it will be live-streamed on the City of Guelph’s website here.

City Council Appointments to the Business License Appeals Committee -Following another unusual function of council last month, five members of council will be asked to volunteer to form a Business License Appeals Committee to hear the appeal of the City’s refusal to issue a business license. There’s no detail in the council report about who’s appealing, or what kind of business they want to open, but the appeal will be heard on Wednesday April 6 at 4 pm. This committee is only formed when an appeal is filed on a business license decision.

Consent Agenda items from the Committee of the Whole meeting on March 8. (Items can be pulled by a councillor seeking additional information, otherwise all items will be voted on as a slate without further debate.)

  • 797 Victoria Road North Debrief
  • City Council Remuneration and Support Advisory Committee Report
  • 2022 Property Tax Policy
  • Community Benefit Agreements – Councillor O’Rourke Motion
