City of Guelph Employee Assaulted, Man Arrested

Normally, trail maintenance is a relatively risk-less task with only, perhaps, the danger of heat stroke or dehydration on a hot day to be concerned about. Unfortunately though for a pair of City of Guelph employees, even staff members doing trail maintenance seem to have their critics.

In a media release, the Guelph Police Service reported that early in the evening on August 1, two City of Guelph employees were doing maintenance behind a school near downtown when a male on the trail saw them and became agitated. The male started yelling at the employees, believing that they were following him, and he threw a large pop at one of the employees, and attempted to punch them in the head.

A 24-year-old Guelph male has been charged with assault and breach of probation, and he will appear in court on September 13. No injuries were sustained in the incident.
