The typical planning meeting is delay one week because of March Break, but on February 20, council will gather for a significantly shorter agenda than Committee-of-the-Whole this week. Check out the agenda below.
Proposed Demolition of 14 Maple Street (Ward 5) – One single-detached dwelling will be torn down, and another will take its place. It’s another typical one-storey/two-storey swap.
7 and 9 Eden Street Proposed Zoning By-law Amendment File: ZC1618 (Ward 4) – The land owner is asking for a rezoning from a “Residential Single Detached” (R.1B) Zone to a “Specialized Residential Single Detached” (R.1B-?). Why? They’re looking to construct a coach house on the property, and the zoning change allows for two dwellings on one lot, as well as the additional parking necessary for it.
Notice of Motion provided by Mayor Guthrie re: City of Guelph and Guelph Public Library Governance – This motion will be brought to a future Committee-of-the-Whole meeting to look at if the management of Guelph’s library system as it is now is still the best way moving forward with pending developments like a new main branch and future branch expansion. Currently, the Library is managed by a 12-person board of directors that includes the Library CEO and one member of city councillor; James Gordon presently serves as council’s representative. The purpose of the review will look at “business case expectations, reporting protocols, information sharing, communications, proper decision criteria and delegated authority.”
