LIVE BLOG: City Council Meeting for Monday January 25, 2016

Guelph City Council will get back around the horseshoe tonight to handle the business of the City of Guelph. There are two major pieces to tackle in the public meeting, which begins at 7 pm, the major one being an application for provincial money to fix a stretch of York Rd.   1. Closed session wasn’t finished before open meeting. Will continue afterward.
  2. .@PhilAlltWard3 asking if segregated bike lanes are included in the proposed York Rd. design.
  3. Staff says they’re not segregated now, but there will be opportunity for the public to comment on it.
  4. Clarify: Staff says there will be enough time to amend the plan if public consultation warrants separated lanes
  5. Mayor’s announcements. Council has directed staff in negotiating with CUPE 241 full and part time office employees
  6. CUPE 1946 Library employees will also be negotiated.

  9. So council’s gone back into the closed meeting. Just four of us left here in the council chamber.
  10. Mayor Guthrie marvelled at the new screen in council chamber. It is a nice addition, I must say.
  11. There is now a frantic search for a councillor to pass the two remaining motions.
