Charges Laid in City Bus/Truck Crash

It was a truck accident near the railroad bridge on Wyndham St., but it was quite unlike the typical truck accident you see in that part of downtown. Now, over two weeks after the almost iconic scene of a city bus landing atop a pick-up truck at the corner of Wyndham and Farquar Streets, a charge for the accident has finally been filed.

According to the Guelph Police Service, “Amanda Kosher, 42 years of Grand Valley has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm. She will appear in court on December 15, 2015.

Here’s the earlier report from the GPS:

On October 18, 2015 at 9:09 a.m., Guelph Police responded to a collision at the intersection of Wyndham Street South and Farquar Street. It involved a 2014 Ford Pickup truck operated by a 32-year-old female and a 2003 Guelph city bus operated by a 35-year-old Guelph male. The bus came to rest on top of the pickup truck on the berm on the east side of Wyndham Street trapping the driver of the pickup truck for over an hour. Once extricated from the truck, the driver was transported to Hamilton General hospital by air ambulance and treated for non-life threatening injuries and released. The driver of the bus was transported by GWEMS to Guelph General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. There was one passenger on the bus that suffered minor injuries that did not require medical attention.

Wyndham Street was closed for several hours as the Guelph Police reconstructed the scene. Evidence collected at the scene suggests that the Ford pickup truck was travelling eastbound on Farquar Street when it entered the intersection and was struck on the passenger side by the front of the bus. Damage to both vehicles is extensive – $30,000 for the Ford pickup truck and $40,000 for the city bus.
