Do you have thoughts about the 2026 budget? Have you been eager to share them in a public setting in front of all of city council? Can you condense all your thoughts in five minutes or less and maybe use some PowerPoint to sell your points to the city’s decision makers? Well sign up now to delegate to city council on this special night for delegations because you may not be the only one with certain thoughts about how city hall spends your money!!
NOTE #1: Delegates will be able to appear at this meeting in-person or via tele-presense but you do have to register with the clerks office before 10 am on Friday November 14. You can also submit written delegations and correspondences for agenda items.
NOTE #2: In addition to meeting in-person, this meeting will also be live-streamed on the City of Guelph’s website here.
2026 Budget Update: Delegations – As usual at this point in the budget process, this meeting is entirely dedicated to public delegations around the 2026 City of Guelph budget! There are already several people signed up to have their say about this year’s budget, and if you want to have your say, you should sign up too. As you may recall, the budget features a net levy increase of 3.17 per cent or just over $11.1 million, which is a reduction from 4.51 per cent as approved in the multiyear budget in 2023.
The draft budget formally becomes the budget on November 13, and at that point the only changes that can be made to the budget have to be approved by council at their special budget meeting on November 26. After that, the mayor will be able to veto any amendment and if he should so happen to use his veto powers they can then be overwritten by council with a two-thirds majority, or nine councillors.

November 26: City Council Meeting to Amend the Mayor’s Proposed Budget
