June comes to end, at least in terms of council business, with the usual midyear visit from the external auditor. That’s pretty much the one major piece of business for this month’s regular meeting of council, but there will be another crack at the Committee of the Whole agenda, and there will some more actions concerning the filling of a recent council vacancy. After tonight, there’s just one more month till summer vacation!
NOTE #1: Delegates will be able to appear at this meeting in-person or via tele-presense but you do have to register with the clerks office before 10 am on Friday June 20. You can also submit written delegations and correspondences for agenda items.
NOTE #2: In addition to meeting in-person, this meeting will also be live-streamed on the City of Guelph’s website here.
CLOSED MEETING:
June 2025 Public Appointments: The Elliott Community Board of Trustees – Council will appoint some new peeps to the board that oversees the administration of The Elliott. The final slate will be approved in open session, but it will first be discussed in closed under Section 239(2)(b) of the Municipal Act, regarding “personal matters about an identifiable individual, including municipal or local board employees.”
2024 Audited Consolidated Financial Statements – Matt Betik from KPMG will return – as he does every June – to present the audited financial statements from the last fiscal year. “No audit differences were identified by KPMG,” is the tl;dr of the report, but the statement does note that the City is facing strong head winds when it comes to financial security. “While the City continues to maintain a strong net financial position, this year saw the smallest increase in net financial assets in recent years at $359 thousand (2023 – $1.5 million), while capital asset additions increased by $59.5 million compared to 2023. The changes in the financial statements align with expectations and are the direct result of the City’s ongoing capital plan strategies.”
Committee and Board Vacancies due to Ward 6 Vacancy – Still filling the holes left by the departure of new Guelph MP Dominique O’Rourke, council will vote to fill the committee vacancies she’s left behind including appointments to the Board of Trustees of The Elliott, the Well Interference Committee, and the chair of Infrastructure, Development and Environment Services at Committee of the Whole.
Consent Agenda items from the Committee of the Whole meetings on June 3. (Items can be pulled by a councillor seeking additional information, otherwise all items will be voted on as a slate without further debate.)

- 2025 Corporate Asset Management Plan and Levels of Service
