MEETING PREVIEW: Guelph Public Library Board for January 27, 2025

The last time that the Guelph Public Library Board of Directors got together, at least in the interest of doing library business, it was at the end of November. So it should come as no surprise then that there is going to be one packed agenda for this first meeting of 2025! Now let’s dig into a new year at the library and what to expect when the board sits down at the beginning of next week.

NOTE #1: This meeting will take place in Programming Room at the Main Library on Norfolk Street, but you can also watch it on video via Cisco Webex. (Find the link on the library board’s webpage.)

NOTE #2: The meeting begins at 6 pm and is expected to wrap up around 8 pm.

NOTE #3: The Library does not make the complete agenda with reports available to the public, only the point form agenda.

Consent Agenda – On the consent agenda there’s the slate of usual reports including the CEO report, new library update, service scorecards, and the operating variance. Also on this part of the agenda are new items like the strategic plan, and the 2025 board schedule and agenda.

Presentations & Reports – There’s a stacked list of items need board input for this meeting! A new executive will be selected, new committees will be appointed, and there will be a final report about the board’s activities in 2024. Speaking of work plans, the board will also look ahead to what they want to do strategically in 2025, and there will be another discussion about public art.

CLOSED MEETING:

For obvious reasons, nothing is known about this item or items, but they are being discussed in-camera under Section 16.1(4) A (d) for “labour relations or employee negotiations” of the Public Libraries Act.
