There are 145,000 stories in the Royal City, and this is some of them. Looking at a week’s worth of media releases from the Guelph Police Service, there’s a lot going on in our little city crime-wise speaking, so let’s run down some of the charges, issues, and requests for information from the Guelph Police Service over the last seven days.

Assault
On Thursday morning, a 39-year-old Guelph man was arrested for one count of sexual assault for an incident last week where a victim in her 50s got into a ride share only to have the driver make an inappropriate sexual comment and touch her breast and thigh.
On Sunday, a 49-year-old Guelph man was arrested for sexual assault, sexual interference, uttering threats, communicating to obtain sexual services and criminal harassment. An 18-year-old woman called police last Friday night to report that she had been followed home to her west-end apartment building by a man who lives in the same building. He was let into the apartment by the complainant’s younger sibling where he partially undid his pants and attempted to remove the victim’s shirt before offering to pay her for sex and uttering a death threat. The victim sustained minor injuries.
Break-Ins
At approximately 11:15 pm Monday night, police were called for an audible alarm at a business near Gordon and Maltby, and when officers arrived they discovered a window had been pushed inward to gain access and a quantity of cash was stolen. Drugs
A 42-year-old Guelph man was charged with assault with a weapon, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, three counts of possessing controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking and failing to comply with a release order last Saturday morning. A man was pistol whipped with the handle of an Airsoft pistol, and a search of the suspect revealed quantities of suspected cocaine, crack cocaine, meth, Hydromorphone, cash and drug paraphernalia. The drugs have an estimated value of $3,000.
Last Friday, a man who twice sold cocaine to an undercover police officer this past May was located by another police service and arrested. A 20-year-old Guelph man was charged with two counts of trafficking a controlled substance.
Fraud

Impaired Driving
A 42-year-old Guelph woman is charged with impaired driving and careless driving last Saturday night after a parked car was stuck, causing the other vehicle to roll onto its roof in the middle of the road at Conroy and College. Breath samples taken at the hospital revealed the driver had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in her system.
Last Saturday evening, police received a call about a man drinking a beer in the driver’s seat of a vehicle in front of a Silvercreek Parkway North business. He was transported to the police station, where breath tests confirmed he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system. A 73-year-old Kitchener man was charged with impaired driving.
On Monday night, police learned of a collision that happened at Paisley and the Hanlon, a pick-up was stopped at a red light when it was struck from behind by a Honda Civic. The driver of the heavily-damaged Civic fled the scene but was followed by the driver of the truck to a nearby parking lot. The Civic driver was arrested and transported to the police station, where tests revealed he had more than three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system. A 21-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired driving, failing to stop at a collision and novice driver having alcohol in his system.
Theft
Last Friday morning, police were dispatched to a building under construction near Elmira and Paisley where two contractors reported that they had arrived in the morning to find their tools missing from separate electrical rooms inside the building. Also last Friday morning, police were called to a business near York and Victoria after contractors there also reported tools missing when they arrived for work. At 12:30 pm on Tuesday police were called to the area of Edinburgh and Burns Drive to respond to the theft of a red 2022 Hyundai Kona that was stolen from its parking spot on the street approximately one hour earlier. Traffic
A 35-year-old Guelph man is charged with failing to stop after an accident causing bodily harm after a woman in her 70s was struck on her bicycle outside St. James Catholic High School on Victoria Thursday at 1 pm. The victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a Hamilton trauma centre where she remains in critical condition. Approximately 6:15 p.m. a member of the Guelph Police Service Traffic Enforcement Unit was conducting speed enforcement on Stone Road East near Watson Parkway South when he clocked a A 53-year-old Guelph man was charged with speeding and stunt driving on Wednesday evening after a Porsche SUV travelling at 107 kilometres per hour in zone on Stone near Watson Parkway.
A 25-year-old Guelph woman was charged with speeding and stunt driving after that same officer observed a Mazda sedan travelling 104 kilometres per hour on the same stretch of road.
A 24-year-old Owen Sound woman was charged with careless driving Wednesday morning after a staff member at a west-end school reported that a student on a bicycle had been struck in front of the school. A 15-year-old was transported to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
A 65-year-old Guelph woman was charged with her third count of driving while suspended and driving without insurance last Saturday afternoon
Other Notes
A 41-year-old Hamilton woman was charged with failing to attend court after she was pulled over in a traffic stop when a license plate reader alerted the officer to a vehicle belonging to someone who was wanted. The suspect was wanted for failing to appear in court on assault and being unlawfully in a dwelling.
A 31-year-old Hamilton man was charged with three counts of breaching a bail order and two counts of breaching probation on Wednesday evening after police got an anonymous tip that he was at a Woolwoch Street apartment belonging to a woman with whom he was not to have any contact with.
A 54-year-old North York man was charged with mischief, obstructing police and intimidation on Tuesday afternoon after the owner of a south-end residence called police to report a tenant was moving out and threatened to kill the landlord if he touched the tenant’s belongings. It was more complicated than that because a) the tenant was not moving out, b) both parties are involved in a dispute before the Landlord and Tenant Tribunal, c) the landlord change the locks and d) had his brother pose as a police officer with eviction papers. The landlord also obstructed the investigation by falsely claiming a relative was living in the house.
