The last Guelph Public Library Board of Directors meeting of the year will look to the future, short and long-term. As 2023 comes to an end, the year that ground was finally broken on the new main library, the board will look at how they’re going to help fundraise for it. That’s the long-term, but the short-term talk will focus on setting the table for 2024 and what the staff and board hope to focus on in the new year.
NOTE #1: This meeting will take place in Programming Room at the Main Library on Norfolk Street, but you can also watch it on video via Cisco Webex. (Find the link on the library board’s webpage.)
NOTE #2: The meeting begins at 6 pm and is expected to wrap up around 8 pm.
NOTE #3: The Library does not make the complete agenda with reports available to the public, not the point form agenda.
Consent Agenda – There will be a half-dozen of the usual reports here including the CEO’s report, the operating variance report, service utilisation and capacity reports, and the new library milestones report.
Presentations & Reports – Much of the focus at this part of the meeting will be on fundraising; an update from the fundraising committee, a discussion about the campaign advisory committee, and fundraising for the new main library. Celeste Bannon Waterman from Partner KCI Philanthropy will be a special guest at the meeting. Also, the board will talk about 2024, the work plan for staff and the board plus the vision for the new year.
CLOSED MEETING:
There’s one item on the closed agenda, a matter pertaining to section (d) labour relations or employee negotiations, as well as (b) meaning personal matters about an identifiable individual, under Section 16.1(4) of the Public Libraries Act.
Friends of the Library Representative – As mentioned at last month’s meeting, the board is going to need a new representative to go to the Friends of the Guelph Public Library board meetings.
