City Council Preview – What’s on the Agenda for the November 21 Meeting?

In the midst of all this budget madness, we don’t want to forget about the usual business of city council like the monthly planning meeting. This November meeting will be pretty straightforward with a couple of new designations from the Heritage Guelph factory, plus a couple of new applications for council’s consideration. A nice planning break before diving back into budget business so let’s see what’s on the agenda.

NOTE #1: Delegates will be able to appear at this meeting in-person or via tele-presense but you do have to register with the clerks office before 10 am on Friday November 17. You can also submit written delegations and correspondences for agenda items.

NOTE #2: In addition to meeting in-person, this meeting will also be live-streamed on the City of Guelph’s website here.

331 Clair Road East: Notice of Intention to Designate – At last month‘s planning meeting, council looked at the planned development for this property, but this item’s about the heritage staff recommendation to designate the portions of the farmhouse that will be preserved as part of the new development. Heritage Guelph approved the designation at the October meeting.

49 Metcalfe St: Notice of Intention to Designate – There’s no future developed planned for this property, but this is such a unique looking house who would want to mess with it? This is a house designed by great Guelph architect Dario Pagani, and Heritage Guelph approved its designation status at October’s meeting too.

151 Bristol Street Proposed Zoning Bylaw Amendment File OZS23-012 Ward 3 – So there was once an entirely different plan for this property back in September 2021, but it looks like the project went back to the drawing board. Now, the proposed zoning bylaw amendment for two semi-detached units, which would together have four units, plus four basement units and another four accessory units for a total 12 units on the site. This is just the public meeting for this project. No final decisions will be made, just a vote to accept the report.

Public Meeting Report 14 Stevenson Street North Official Plan and Zoning Bylaw Amendments OZS23-011 – The proposal here is to take this empty piece of land along Stevenson, which backs on to the tracks and build a three-level multi-residential building with two levels above grade and one slightly below. The whole project will have 10 units in total. Like the previous item, no final decision will made about this application at this meeting and council will only vote to receive the application.
