MANGEZ! Dine Safe Guide for July 1-15, 2020

Twice-monthly Guelph Politico posts the latest inspection results from the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health Unit inspection of local restaurants, hotels, cafes, grocery stores and other businesses that handle food. We call it “Mangez!”, and this column highlights the latest inspections done by WDGPH, and the results they’ve posted.

  • Ensure there is a certified food handler present on-site at all times of operation
  • Food contact surfaces cleaned and sanitized after each use and as often as is necessary to maintain such surfaces in a sanitary condition

Dairy Queen, 749 Woolwich St INITIAL FINDINGS (4 Non-Critical Infractions)

  • Frequency of garbage removal adequate to maintain the premises in a sanitary condition
  • Floors, walls, and ceilings clean and in good repair
  • Ventilation hood and/or filters require cleaning
  • General housekeeping is sufficient to maintain the premise in a clean and sanitary condition

Bamboo Sushi, 15-259 Grange Rd INITIAL FINDINGS (3 Critical/10 Non-Critical Infractions)

  • CRITICAL: Adjust or repair the refrigeration unit immediately. Do not store any hazardous foods in the unit until it is able to maintain hazardous foods at 4°C (40°F) or less; Ensure all hazardous foods are stored at 4°C (40°F) or less
  • CRITICAL: Ensure employees wash hands before food handling; Ensure employees wash hands after potential contamination
  • CRITICAL: Food protected from potential contamination and adulteration
  • Provide an easily readable, accurate indicating thermometer to check food storage temperatures
  • Adequate hand washing station(s) in all preparation / service areas, supplied with liquid soap and paper towels, and used for hand washing only

  • CRITICAL: Hazardous food is held at 4°C (40°F) or less
  • Provide an easily readable, accurate indicating thermometer to check food storage temperatures
  • Ensure hot water sanitizer is at 82°C or greater for at least 10 seconds
  • Cleaning required around, under, and behind kitchen equipment, counters, and baseboards
  • Ventilation hood and/or filters require cleaning
  • Daily housekeeping practices must be improved
