Twice-monthly, Guelph Politico posts the latest inspection results from the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health Unit inspection of local restaurants, hotels, cafes, grocery stores and other businesses that handle food. We call it “Mangez!”, and this column highlights the latest inspections done by WDGPH, and the results they’ve posted.

  • Food contact surfaces cleaned and sanitized after each use and as often as is necessary to maintain such surfaces in a sanitary condition
  • Sanitary maintenance of and provision of required supplies in staff / public washroom facilities

Mustang Drive In Theatre, 5012 Jones Baseline (3 Non-Critical Infractions)

  • Adequate hand washing station(s) in all preparation / service areas, supplied with liquid soap and paper towels, and used for hand washing only
  • Proper manual dishwashing procedure followed (wash, rinse, sanitize)

Subway, 17-995 Paisley Rd (1 Non-Critical Infraction)

  • Ensure inspection results are posted on-site by posting either the inspection report or the Check Before You Choose sign by January 2019

*Critical infraction: A violation found during an inspection that could be a health hazard

City Pizza, 6-20 Woodlawn Rd E (1 Critical)

  • Separate raw hazardous foods from ready-to-eat foods during storage and handling

Delta Hotel and Conference Centre – Fifty West Restaurant, 50 Stone Rd W (1 Critical/2 Non-Critical Infractions)

  • CRITICAL: Adjust or repair the refrigeration unit immediately. Do not store any hazardous foods in the unit until it is able to maintain hazardous foods at 4°C (40°F) or less
  • Provide paper towels at hand washing station in food preparation area
    Maintain sanitizing solutions according to manufacturer’s instructions

Feta & Olives Greek Kitchen, 435 Stone Rd W (2 Critical/3 Non-Critical Infractions)

  • CRITICAL: Hazardous food is held at 4°C (40°F) or less
  • CRITICAL: Frozen hazardous food is maintained in a frozen state
  • Daily housekeeping practices must be improved
  • Cleaning required around, under, and behind kitchen equipment, counters, and baseboards
  • Equipment is of sound and tight construction, in good repair and easily cleaned and sanitized

Guelph General Hospital – Balcony Bistro, 115 Delhi St (1 Critical)

  • Hot holding: minimum of 60°C (140°F) after cooking / rapid re-heating

Riverside Park Snack Bar, 709 Woolwich St (2 Critical)

  • Cook food mixtures containing poultry, egg, meat, fish or another hazardous food at 74°C (165°F) for 15 seconds
  • Ensure food is held above 60°C (140°F) after cooking / rapid re-heating

Subway, 500 York Rd (1 Critical)

  • Hazardous food is held at 4°C (40°F) or less
