City Council Preview – What’s on the Agenda for the November 26, 2024 Meeting?

Like last month’s regular meeting, this one takes place the day before a budget meeting, and like last month’s meeting it might be deceptively straightforward. There’s only one item to be revisited from Committee of the Whole, and then there are a couple of items on the closed meeting agenda, but is that the end of the story? We will have to wait until November 26 to know for sure, but for now, here’s the preview!

NOTE #1: Delegates will be able to appear at this meeting in-person or via tele-presense but you do have to register with the clerks office before 10 am on Friday November 22. You can also submit written delegations and correspondences for agenda items.

NOTE #2: In addition to meeting in-person, this meeting will also be live-streamed on the City of Guelph’s website here.

CLOSED MEETING:

Bargaining Mandate Report Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 241 and 973 – Local 241 represents the City of Guelph’s outside workers, and Local 973 represents those who work in the social services department at the County of Wellington, and their contract is presently up for renegotiation. But because this is a matter “regarding labour relations or employee negotiations”, it’s got to be discussed under Section 239(2)(d) of the Municipal Act.

November 2024 Public Appointments: The Elliott Community Board of Trustees – Like all board appointments, they are discussed in closed session before being approved in the open. This is done under Section 239(2)(b) of the Municipal Act for issues “regarding personal matters about an identifiable individual, including municipal or local board employees.”

Consent Agenda items from the Committee of the Whole meetings on November 5. (Items can be pulled by a councillor seeking additional information, otherwise all items will be voted on as a slate without further debate.)

  • Municipal Franchise Agreement with Enbridge Gas Inc. – Note that committee approved a different motion that the one recommended by staff in the original agenda.
