Take two! This meeting was originally supposed to take place last month, but the Accessibility Advisory Committee was unable to achieve quorum. So the meeting was rescheduled following October’s regular meting and this is where they landed, in the middle of November at approximately the same time that an AAC meeting might normally take place. With that kind of regularity, the meeting will have to happen this time!
NOTE #1: This meeting will take place in Meeting Room A at City Hall, but you can also watch it on video via Cisco Webex. (Find the link on the meeting agenda.)
NOTE #2: Accessibility-related accommodations available upon timely request to Sarah Cunneyworth 519-822-1260 extension 3536; TTY 519-826-9771 email: accessibility [at] guelph.ca.
NOTE #3: The meeting begins at 6 pm and is expected to wrap up around 8 pm.
NOTE #4: This is a special meeting of the Accessibility Advisory Committee. The regular meeting will take place as scheduled on Tuesday December 19.
Committee Workshop for Municipal Election Recommendation – Not much has changed with the meeting materials between proposed dates. For the last year, the Accessibility Advisory Committee has been going back and forth with staff about recommending alternative voting methods for the next municipal election. The clerks office have been exploring multiple options, some of which have been used in the past including internet voting, vote from home, vote by mail, vote by phone, and remote accessible vote by mail.
Sarah Nicole Martin will facilitate a conversation between members of the AAC and the clerks office to look at all those options, their risks and benefits, and the experiences of other municipalities using them. Staff will take the committee feedback from this workshop meeting and use it to develop a draft motion that will be brought to a future meeting, and then a final motion will come to the AAC at a later date. Ultimately, the AAC’s recommendation will be referred to council, since they have the finally say in directing staff to initiate voting methods.
