This month’s meeting of the Guelph Public Library Board of Directors is the beneficiary of perfect timing. It had to be moved to accommodate the schedule of some members, and as fate would have it, the new meeting date is just over 12 hours before the groundbreaking on the Baker Street Redevelopment, which includes the new library building. That business, plus so much more, will be discussed at this last meeting before summer break.
NOTE #1: This meeting will take place in Programming Room at the Main Library on Norfolk Street, but you can also watch it on video via Cisco Webex. (Find the link on the library board’s webpage.)
NOTE #2: The meeting begins at 6 pm and is expected to wrap up around 8 pm.
NOTE #3: The Library does not make the complete agenda with reports available to the public, not the point form agenda.
Consent Agenda – There are the usual six items on this part of the agenda including the minutes from the last meeting, correspondences, and the monthly scorecards for service capacity and utilization. We will also get the monthly update from CEO Steve Kraft, and there will be an operating variance report for the board’s information.
Presentations & Reports – Among the items in this section for June are the mid-year progress report, the 2022 financial review, and the usual updates about the new main library project, the executive report, and the ongoing collaboration from the Friends of the Guelph Public Library. There’s also an item called “Outstanding Guelph City Council Motion”, which may be in regard to an item from Committee of the Whole this month inviting local boards and shared services to submit annual performance updates in tandem with the City’s own Strategic Plan.
CLOSED MEETING:
There’s one item on the closed agenda, a matter pertaining to section (d) labour relations or employee negotiations under the Public Libraries Act.
